In late 2022, the Noise Hotline was born. Originally, the piece was envisioned as a reaction to the landscape of incessant scam texts and calls that we all live with. I wanted to create something fun and harmless that was in no means an antidote, but a surrealist response to this constant spam in our world.

In the early days of the hotline, it was essentially a prank call project that would bait a given person to call into the number. Once they called into the number, they were greeted with a series of options accessed by dialing a number. The selections on the hotline range from strange sounds, songs, and field recordings. Some of the folks who called in would stay on the line for as much as 20 minutes, or call repeatedly. If you called this number, and you were wanting to know what it was all about, rest assured I wanted nothing from you, except to give you a delightfully odd experience.

I began to feel like the project had reached its limit in mid-2024, so I released an album and I went on a small tour. These performances consisted of me calling into the number and processing the audio with electronics, performing with puppets, and playing messages I had received from callers.
