I’m John, and I’m an artist from Birmingham Alabama. My first love was music, so that will always be my primary artform. But I’ve done my fair share of more theatrical work (see puppets,) as well as my “noise hotline” project, which I’m not sure how to classify. I’ve even done a little bit of filmmaking.

One question you may have is “why call yourself Dial Alaska? You’re from Birmingham Alabama!” which is a fair question. I’ve done artwork under many different names, but Dial Alaska is the one that has stuck, for whatever reason. When I was beginning my hotline project, I realized I could create a number with any area code I wanted, and there seemed no cooler area code than 907 for Alaska. Thus, “Dial Alaska.” It’s that simple I guess :^)
